Valentines Day is almost here ❤ This is a recipe from my sister Joanne from a very long time ago- its fun to do with your kids or for a sweet gift!

Valentine Shortbread Puzzle Cookie

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter- softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 oz. (1 square) semi-sweet chocolate, melted

Mix butter & sugar thoroughly; add vanilla, salt and water . Mix in flour a little bit at a time- mixture will be dry and crumbly.  Form dough into a disc reserving 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup of reserved dough add melted chocolate and mix until color is even. Wrap the doughs with plastic separately and chill well. Roll out dough onto parchment paper to form an 8” x 10” rectangle (or heart shape) Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Work the chocolate dough with your hands until pliable enough to roll into a 1/4” rope. (If hard to roll, sprinkle on a few drops of water and work in)

Use chocolate dough to make a border and a sweet message. Press on top of cookie and bake for 22 minutes.

  1. Teri, I met you in the resort pool in Costa Rica. Finally looked you up. Your pictures are awesome. I made your wild rice casserole, it was excellent. Your home is beautiful, what a location you have. Also I was wondering if you had any pictures of your lemon bar that you did for your daughters shower. Thinking about hosting a Bridal Shower for a friends daughter and her Wedding colors are yellow and grey.

Let me know if I can still help, and yes I am posting Chelsie & Ryan’s shower pics next week with my lemon drop martini recipe!! This would be perfect for the colors-Hope all is well- Teri ps that wild rice recipe is really good……
