Sunday was our last warm day of summer and that night I finally decided it was time to write a post.
It’s been 4 months.
“There is no present like the time”…the title of this post is really something isn’t it?! I was watching the movie “The second best exotic Marigold Hotel” and discovered it there.
It pretty well sums up my summer. As I look back over the months I quickly realized how important it is to be in the moment.
Instead of spending my time here writing posts or in my garden I spent my days enjoying my two little darlings that have been with me for a very long time.
It was as my husband says “the best kitty assisted living” he’s ever seen. After countless walks outside for Mocha – (one to four times a day!) I learned a lot. He forced me to really enjoy my yard and the outdoors.
He couldn’t get enough of the warm sun and the beautiful sounds all around us. Even completely blind he knew when I was impatient and on my phone. He’d stop and look up at me like- really? I could see the disappointment in his face. Big lesson learned… there is not one thing I saw on my phone that was as important as my time with him. Oh what i’d give to have that right now. Mocha passed away August 1st and with that went my heart. He was 18 1/2.
She was an amazing angel and did an incredible job raising our whole family.
To those of you who do not own an animal you probably can’t begin to understand and think how silly this all must sound. When in fact, the best thing that ever could have happened to this family was to share our love with two of the most beautiful souls on earth. They knew when one of the kids were sick way before Craig and I did and they never left their side. They gave us countless laughs, hugs and the best naps ever.
I can’t imagine the past twenty years without them and trust me, the house just isn’t the same.
To say the least, I’ve been just scooping up pieces of my heart and trying to put them back in place one by one. Two big pieces will be lost for sure.
On a brighter note! Today I am celebrating my 3 year anniversary of my blog. I have missed being on here more than you know. It’s kinda funny, the week I started Mama Carp & Co. Craig asked me if I’d have enough content to put on a blog… trust me, theres not a single day that I’m not working on something! So fair warning, I have many posts that I will be sharing with you now that I’m back! I hope you all had a wonderful summer! Make sure you spend some quality time with your family. Go for a long walk or two outside (without your cell phone) and take in all the beauty that surrounds you. For its memories like this in life you’ll cherish the most and truly the best presents you’ll get in life.
Love & God bless, Teri
